The Creepy Drinking Fountain

An old and already deteriorated drinking fountain, degraded perhaps a little too much.

In the old and run-down train station of my city, which has fallen into disuse for decades and only has one passenger line to a neighboring city, with the remaining traffic dedicated to wood transportation, there are good textures waiting to be photographed. The problem is that it's very difficult to get permission, as the best ones are in places that could be considered risky.

However, right there on the platform, there is an old drinking fountain, from the late 19th or early 20th century, which obviously doesn't work and has remained there as a witness to bygone times. It's not a texture per se, but it's an object that generates a certain fetish in someone like me.

Now, how to degrade the image of such an old object that already has considerable deterioration from use?
A photo of gravel that I took the same day just outside the station was perfect to make the drinking fountain appear to have been completely destroyed.

The curious thing is not the fountain itself or the textured image that I produced with it, but rather that when I showed this composition to a friend, when she saw it, she got very upset because she really believed that this historical piece of the train station had been vandalized by the addicts and drunks who roam the place at night.
She also swears that she sees the unsettling figure of a little girl with Asian features just above the fountain, and an evil looking skull a little higher up!
