I wasn't planning to post anything today because I have two projects that are almost finished. I want to wait a bit because I feel like they still need a main subject or theme, even though they work well as abstract pieces.
But yesterday afternoon, while I was sitting on the back porch, I noticed the blurred shadows of tree leaves and the porch roof on an old refrigerator that I use as a cabinet. I took a photo of it with my phone.

Later that night, I decided to do a quick experiment with the photo to see what I could create. The first thing I tried was one of the old paper textures I've been scanning for my upcoming texture pack.
I loved how the paper blended with the photo in Pin Light mode. Since I was just experimenting and not aiming for a finished piece, I decided to try for the first time the texture of a hammered glass window that I had previously discarded.

I liked what I saw, and after adding a couple more textures and making a few adjustments, I finished the experiment. The resulting piece, which I'm sharing below, is much more subtle than anything I've done since I started this blog.
