Yesterday, I went out with my camera to take some photos for new projects and to enjoy the sun, which hadn't been out for several days.
I found some interesting things, and when I got back, I started working. I wanted to start with these photos of a shade cloth because, even though it's pretty ordinary, I was surprised at how interesting it looks in the pictures. I also took a picture of the pavement inside the square where I was taking photos.
When I started combining them, I immediately felt that the composition had a very organic vibe because of the cellular look that came from overlaying those patterns. Then I realized I had the perfect image to keep going in that direction: one of the first photos I took yesterday was of a corrugated and rusted chimney pipe. If you've seen my previous posts, you might guess where this is heading.
Like in the work I did a few days ago with the fire extinguisher, I used image duplication and mirroring to create a sort of worm. Then, I tried out some textures and different blending modes to get those bloody red tones, while keeping the ochre/greenish tones in the background.
The result is admittedly a bit creepy, probably not something most people would hang on their wall. But even though it's not for everyone, here is my "Rustborne Parasite."
