Grunge Psychedelic Spiral

Exploring color and distress

I'm playing around with solid colors again, this time with a colored spiral with intersecting lines emerging from its center. I used a manhole cover as the base, making the spiral's center its focal point.

At first glance, the colors might seem chaotic and clash horribly. But based on past experiments, I know these hues react well with textures in different blending modes. Plus, the colors themselves will transform through shades and tones as I build the final piece. Some might even disappear entirely!

My goal was to create something vibrant, abstract, and with a touch of grunge (it's a bit of an obsession for me, if you haven't noticed!).

The process yielded some intriguing and usable sections along the way. When I reached this stage, it just felt complete. I made a minor texture adjustment to remove a distracting detail that overpowered the other layers when blended.

There's always the option to keep working or revisit earlier stages for a potential second version. However, for now, I consider this finished.

This weekend, the blog might be quiet, but a social media tease isn't out of the question.
