TEXTURED PHOTOGRAPHYDIGITAL ART

This was one of the first things I did this year, while I was wandering the city, searching for textures and experimenting with them as soon as I got home, trying to figure out (or maybe just stumble upon) the direction I wanted to take in digital art.

In this case, I grabbed two photos that didn't make the cut for my texture pack: the tiles from a friend's house and a close-up of a train station's fence post.

I added a few more textures, but it was the combination of these first two that really sparked my idea. I decided that my initial focus would be on exploring the layering of photographs with all sorts of textures, letting the pixels from each layer collide and seeing what emerged from the chaos.

I'd dabbled in this technique before, but due to time constraints, I hadn't been able to fully develop it. This initial experiment yielded four versions, which I liked at the time, but after a while, I narrowed it down to the two I'm sharing here.
